Chicago and Milwaukee

Maddux flew for the 2nd time!  We went to Chicago, IL in June.  He is a good little boy; always happy, even on the airplane.  There was another baby on the plane who cried a lot and pooped (we could smell from 5 rows back)- poor baby.  It was nice knowing Maddux was content, and we were happy he took a long nap.

We were in Chicago for a wedding.  Molly (the bride) and I met at Kenny Guinn in the 6th grade.  We became a lot closer in high school.  In High School,  she took Kris to Sadies our sophomore year.

Molly caught the bouquet at my wedding (May 2011), and then her man popped the question that October.  Coincidence??
We almost died our junior year -- a girl gave us a ride home, but she went off-roading and we almost fell in a hole that was like 20-30 feet deep.

Anyway, back to Chicago:

Her parents lived there, and she moved away when she was a little girl.

We went to the Cubs game on Friday.  The bride and groom actually bought group tickets for everyone attending the wedding.  It was perfect since Kris and I want to see every ball park; it was great!  There was a rain delay to start the game,  but we stuck through it and saw a few innings when (after a 3 hr delay).  A ton of people left because of the delay and we ended up sitting a few rows behind the dugout.

The Wrigley field staff were very nice, and the field was beautiful!  They had a family room where we were able to hang out and change Maddux; he had so much fun!

The Cubs were playing the Houston Astros.  Kris played on a scout team with a guy who is now playing for the Adtros.  His name is Chris Carter and he drops bombs (Kris made me say that).

We got to explore the city, too!

We are in the center of the bean way back at some tables.

My sister Kristen had a friend living in Chicago, and she was kind enough to babysit Maddux while Kris & I went to the wedding in the city.  He had fun with them!

The wedding was great!  Molly was so pretty and the venue was beautiful.  She got married at the University Club of Chicago on Michigan Avenue (overlooking the Bean & Millennium Park).

So Kris took Cassie (left) to homecoming, went to Sadies with Molly (center), and prom with me.
Their first dance.

We also took a quick trip to Milwaukee the day after the wedding.  We will never do it again.   The park was built beautifully...BUT.... We showed up 40 minutes BEFORE the game, and didnt get in until 20 minutes AFTER it started.  We were standing outside at noon in the 95 degree heat and extreme humidity.   There were 3 doors open, letting in 40,000 people.   They were passing out some stupid bobblehead, and had no line for people who didnt care about it.

So over an hour later we get in the park, and our seats are in the sun. I tried to sit on my seat and burnt my legs, because it was so hot. We paid a pretty nickle for these seats, and it was all a waste.  Maddux sounded like a panting dog, he was so hot.  We ended up sitting in their family room and the nose-bleeds for most of the game.

The weird thing is, they have a dome, but kept it open?  The park in Phoenix closes it's dome if it is too hot, and turns the AC on.  Not sure why they thought it was a good idea, but I was not happy.
Our paid seats were right behind the 3b dugout, but we sat up here in shade for awhile.

We even went to the ticket booth and asked if we could switch to any open seats in the shade.  They tried to sell me tickets in the shade instead.  What the heck is wrong with them?

At least he met a friend in the first aid room we stayed in the whole time.
So Milwaukee bad, Chicago good.  :)

We stopped by the Home Alone house on our wayback to Chicago.  This neighborhood was beautiful!

And we stopped at this hotdog place called Portillos.  I keep wanting to call it Plotnick's - that is Molly's new last name.  They have a ton in Chicago and are building some in Arizona and California.  It was good!

On our way to the airport to return home, we stopped by the US Cellular Park (White Sox) to help accomplish our goal of seeing every stadium.   We got a picture there, but it is hideous, so I'll just be leaving that one off the blog.

Fun trip!
