These are the good times

Have you ever heard someone say, "Those were the good days"  or just "The good ol' days".

I heard someone say the other "Do you know when you are living in the good days, or do you look back after you get sick or hurt and think those previous days were the good times".

I'm sure it is different for everyone, but I notice the good times.  I think my "good ol' days" are right now, and I hope they last a long long time.

Kris and I have jobs that we enjoy, but are not overwhelmed with them.
We have a house to call our own.  We have good friends, and healthy baby boy.  We see our families often, and can enjoy life.

There are so many moments where I am so thankful for my life.  Almost everyday I give Maddux a big hug and kiss and ask Kris things like, "Isn't he the sweetest?", "Aren't we so blessed?",  "Can you believe how lucky we are?", or "Are you so happy you are his Dad?"

I get those overwhelming feelings of gratitude all the time.  Especially when Kris lets me sleep in on a Saturday, or if I get my toes painted, or if we go out to eat somewhere. I soak it all in.

These are my good days.  I think a lot of it has to do with attitude- there are always things that can bring a person down.  I also think there are so many good things, and if you focus on the good it makes you happy.

Kris has helped me with focusing on the good in my life.  I was a big worry wart and debbie downer before Kris, but I've noticed I have been more easy going and happy with him.  I used to always let my diabetes get the best of me, but not anymore.

I love my life.  I love my boys, family, job, house, and car (even if it breaks a lot- it sure beats walking!).  I love Las Vegas, the mountains, music, movies, books, shoes, shopping, and so many things I take for granted.

I hope 20 years from now I still think I am living in the good days.   But, I think I will always look back on the days when Maddux was a little boy and smile.

I am happy.  These are the good days.

Here are some happy pictures (and a video, if it uploaded correctly):

Stache Bash!

So, this was 2 months ago, but....

Our little man turned 1!

We had a fun 'Stache Bash.

I made Maddux a birthday banner from tracing shapes on card stock paper-- similar to this.  I bought cardstock and tacky glue from Hobby Lobby.  Super easy and cute!  We can take the mustache/top hat part off and use it every year.

My Mom opened her house to let us throw his party there.  We invited our family and some close friends.  We have a big family!

Loves his pizza

Homemade cupcakes with mustache toppers!
