First Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to Kris.

I attempted to make this:

Nailed it:

😂😂hahaha.

Maddux kept putting his hand in a little fist.  I tried again when he was sleeping, but it woke him up.   It is the thought that counts, right?

I love watching Kris with Maddux.  He just loves and adores him.

I also love watching Maddux watch Kris.  In the mornings. Maddux just stares at Kris getting ready.  His little  eyes will follow him across the room.

We're so lucky to have Kris.  Your babes love you!
Maddux was just 6 weeks old in the picture above.  :)

Circumcision SURGERY

...sigh...

Poor baby.

After Maddux got out of the NICU, our pediatrician told us to call a urologist to do a circumcision. He told us to hurry and call, because if the baby is over 4 weeks old they cannot do it  and have to wait until they are 3 months old, and do it under anesthesia.

We called that day.  Maddux was 12 days old.  Kris talked to the office and told them our son is under 2 weeks old and needs a circumcision.

She said: "Is he 10 pounds YET?"   ((Uhhh, What?!?))

Kris: "No, he is 7.5 lbs"

Lady: "He needs to be 10lbs, so call us back then."

Kris repeated it several times to make sure he was hearing her right.

We were baffled.  We thought it was so weird.  Everyone we told also thought that it was crazy.   This is my first kid, so I didn't question them too much, and I was thinking it was some new and outrageous protocol.  Hindsight is 20/20, so I should have been more persistent.

After he reached 10lbs I called the urologist office back and told her my son is now 10 pounds (he was also  3 months old) and needs a circumcision.

I don't know if this was the same lady Kris talked to, but this chick said:

"OK, now that he is over 10lbs and 3 months old we cannot do an in office procedure, it will need to be surgical at the hospital."

I said: "What?!  We called when he was 12 days old, you guys turned us away and said come back when he is OVER 10 pounds"

She replied, "NO, they need to be UNDER10 pounds and UNDER 30 days"

I might have had an attitude, but do you blame me?  I snapped back and said someone from their office turned us away and this whole surgical process could have been avoided!  That is ridiculous, and looking back I am still annoyed.  She then apologized for the confusion (I'm sure she was thinking we misheard, but we KNOW that is what they told us.)

So, we scheduled his surgery for June 13th.  He couldn't eat past midnight.  We had to be at the hospital at 6:30AM and his surgery was scheduled for 8:00AM.  He normally eats at 7AM, but he was being such a good boy and so happy before surgery.

I really did like the Dr.  He was nice, and felt sorry that someone told us he had to be over 10 pounds.

They had to put him completely under.  They used a gas mask to put him to sleep.  Putting him asleep, doing the procedure, then waking him back up all took about an hour.

They called Kris and I back to recovery and the poor baby was not feeling well.

I remember the nurse kept saying, "Oh he is crying a lot, he might have a burp.."   I was annoyed by that too.  I was thinking, he is 4 months old still waking up from anesthesia,  of course he is out of sorts.  Did they expect him to be laughing? He didn't really want to eat right away, we tried and he was not interested. Kris got him to sleep and we just let him sleep.

I stayed there for about an hour after the procedure too.  Finally, he took a few ounces from his bottle, and he held it down, so they let us go home.   In between his naps he woke up and was all smiles.  His fussiness was off and on.

Today he is feeling much better.  He especially loves his naps today, and we us lots of Vaseline, but other than that he is OK.  :)  Done and over with!
